Nepal Youth Hostel Council (NYHC) has been established in 2007 according to the philosophy and principles of International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF). It has been registered under the Government of Nepal with the registration number 87-064/065. NYHC is the first of its kind in Nepal which provides necessary facilities to every citizen and member, around the globe, travelling in Nepal with Hi-Hostel International Membership Card. NYHC also issues Membership Cards to both National and International citizens which are available at the national office. NYHC maintains IYHF standard management structure.
Youth Hostelling as a movement started by a German School Teacher Richard Schirrmann and his pupils in the year 1909 to help the young people of limited means to experience the countryside and cities of the world. It has become one of the biggest International Membership Organization for youth. It has more than 3 million members around the World.
The International Youth Hostels Federation (IYHF) established in 1932 as an outcome of the first IYHF Conference held in Amsterdam. IYHF is presently represented by over 90 Countries through more than 4000 hostels. IYHF has its Headquarter in England.
